This album is GOLD! From Ghana, Amaarae is a powerhouse! This album has so many great influences and sounds (there are moments I hear Doja Cat sweet sounds even) but that is not to say that this feels old. This is a beautiful new sound and Amaarae really brings a fresh sound for 2020. Really love this

I bumped into this album searching for Christmas albums that don’t suck. PJ Morton released a Christmas album this year and it is great, BUT as I searched his older albums I fell for his album Paul. It is not a Christmas album.
It’s a mix of Gospel (check his 2020 release for more of that) RnB and Jazz. Also, he has collaborated with some rad people like Tobe Nwigwe.
This is just a good solid album… really really great for this December

If Tori Main didn't send me this, I will be shocked. This could have been made almost any year. The sound is timeless. Super huge Jay Som vibes at times but really, I could have been listening to this in 2000 or 2020. I needed it in 2020 so thank you for being here now!

This album is so hard to pigeonhole. It is really a great mix of things, with some great collaborations, but each song somehow flows and feels different to me. An SF native, Jim-E-Stack is rad.

Seriously, they are amazing. Also, they released a bunch of playlists on Spotify that are fire!
So while listening to this playlist I did some digging into a bunch of the artists and saw that this Pat Kelly mix record was released 2020 so it jumped STRAIGHT into the HMC playlist.

OK so, during the month, I dump music into my playlists and then sort them all later to create a great flow through. Some albums get moved to future months, some get tossed, some get thrown into my Lost Souls Playlist.
When I got to album 10 of December I had NO IDEA where this album had come from.
I started listening and was grooving and slowly starting to understand what I liked and THEN heard Aloha with Bomba Estereo.
I love this song… and I now know that in the middle of the night while I play fifa I Shazam songs and throw them randomly into HMC.
We all learnt something this month… pretty good outcome.
